Jan. 26 - Yavapai County Math Contest
The Math Contest is open to Yavapai County students enrolled in Algebra and above. The contest will consist of an individual, team and college bowl rounds with awards going to top scoring schools and individuals.

Chocolate purveyors from Arizona and around the nation gather in Glendale for this award-winning festival, which celebrates not only chocolate, but romance and the arts as well. Feb. 10 - Tucson: Arizona Water Festival
Arizona Water Festivals are interactive, hands-on events for fourth grade students and their teachers. Students travel through four thirty-minute lessons about watersheds, groundwater, water conservation, and the hydrologic cycle, learning about our state resources.
Feb. 10, 11, 12 - Downtown Mesa: Mesa Takes Flight Festival
The Mesa Takes Flight Festival is the City of Mesa’s festival commemorating the Arizona Centennial and culminating a year-long celebration of aviation, aerospace and all things flight-related.
The festival will take place at the Mesa Arts Center, with select offerings on Friday evening, February 10, from 6-10pm, in conjunction with Second Friday in Downtown Mesa, and a full range of activities on Saturday from 10am to 4pm, and on Sunday from noon to 4pm.

Participants will learn strategies to develop a child's natural interest in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) through play, song, questioning, storytelling and literacy activities that are aligned to Arizona Early Learning Standards. Feb. 18 - East Mesa: ASU’s College of Technology & Innovation – Maker Faire
Maker Faire, an extension of Make Magazine, is a national organization that celebrates the DIY movement, featuring technology, science, and art exhibits that run the gamut from educational and entertaining to the purely whimsical. The purpose of Maker Faire is to excite the public about the concepts of invention and creation. Past Maker Faire events have been held in San Francisco, Detroit, and New York, and this October, Phoenix will be hosting a Maker Faire as well.
CTI has applied for licensing to host its own Maker Faire* that will include several components:
01. FIRST Robotics Duel in the Desert
Attendees will be able to cheer on students participating in the scrimmage, meet with regional FIRST Robotics teams and view the robots that they have created for the competition. Videos of FIRST Robotics will also be displayed.
02. Student Project Demonstrations
Valley K-12 educators and students as well as university and community college students will be invited to showcase innovative projects they have created.
03. Community Project Demonstrations
Community members with exciting DIY projects will be invited to demonstrate projects they have created.
04. DIY Workshops
A variety of hands-on workshops will be available, from rockets to robotics and gaming.
Invitations to attend CTI’s Maker Faire will be extended to Valley K-12, community college, and ASU students and educators, as well as to the public. An estimated 700 attendees will participate, and admittance will be free.

Feb. 18 - Tucson: 2nd Saturdays Downtown Present Science in the City
Downtown merchants will host discussions and demonstrations about science/technology related to the goods and services they provide, science related activities such as Zero Gravity and Mathematics Road Show will be in the Interactive Park on Congress. Tucson schools and Pima JTED will showcase their projects at various venues including the Tucson Children's Museum, Science Downtown and Tucson main library.

Feb. 19 - Peoria: 50th Anniversary of the First American to Orbit the Earth at the Challenge Space Center
A Smithsonian Institution Exhibit which celebrates 50 years of manned space exploration with dozens of items flown in space from Mercury to the Space Shuttle program. Featured are 23 items on loan from the National Air and Space Museum in Washington, D.C., 19 of which have flown in space on Gemini 8, Skylab 2, and several STS missions. The artifacts tell the story of how astronauts live in space.

Feb. 25 - Sid the Science Kid’s Super Duper Ooper Schmooper Big Idea About Water’s Journey!
Each day, Sid and his friends practice doing what scientists do. Now you can join Eight, Arizona PBS at Herberger Park, 58th Street and Indian School Road in Phoenix, to observe, ask questions and record your ideas about water. At this special FREE event along the banks of Arizona Falls, the whole family can learn about water in all different ways – looking at it under a microscope, watching a Sid the Science Kid episode, finding out what a hydrologic engineer does, making their own canal maps – and of course, meet the kid who wants to know everything about everything – Sid the Science Kid! 9am to noon

March 06 - UA Campus, Tucson: Innovation Day
The University of Arizona (UA) will host its ninth annual Innovation Day to honor faculty and students as outstanding innovators. In honor of the Arizona’s 2012 Centennial Celebration, the event will highlight 100+ years of science and technology at the University of Arizona as the theme of this year’s Innovation Day.
The University of Arizona moves the world forward with innovative research and sharing brilliant new ideas. Innovation Day celebrates the innovators who move the world forward. The daylong event includes the following sessions:
- UA at the Leading Edge showcases cutting edge research in short video clips
- Technology Innovation Awards luncheon honors a faculty member and student for their achievements in translating original ideas from the laboratory to the marketplace.
